Let's take a peek inside one of our favorite smoothies: Raspberry Cacao.
This vegan smoothie is made with fresh raspberries, sweet dates and chocolatey cacao nibs. It's giving decadence. Even though each sip feels like you're indulging, we actually packed this smoothie with spinach and chia seeds to make it our highest protein smoothie-- 9 G of plant powered goodness.
Here's a breakdown of what's inside, and why we love it:
Raspberries: This bite size powerhouse fruit is full of heart healthy potassium and omega-3 fatty acids. An added bonus? They're full of a mineral called manganese, which is essential to healthy bones, skin and regulated blood sugar.
Dates: In this little bite there's a lot of antioxidants. The richest inside are carotenoids, flavonoids and phenolic acid-- all of which contribute to the health of your heart and eyes while providing plenty of anti-inflammatory properties you'll always find a reason to love.
Spinach: Popeye was on to something. Each leaf packs a nutritionally dense, low calorie punch full of calcium, magnesium and even iron. Incorporating this leafy green into your daily veggie regimen is proven to benefit eyesight, blood sugar, glowing skin and even bone health.
Cacao Nibs: When you think of something chocolatey, naturally we think high in sugar and full of things too good to be good for you. Think again. Cacao nibs are naturally low in sugar and actually provide an amazing amount of fiber, protein and healthy fats-promoting a feeling of fullness. Couple this feeling with the cacao nib's high density of minerals like iron, magnesium, zinc and copper, and you're in the clear to indulge and feel good about the health benefits you're getting from it!
Chia Seeds: These are the tiniest ingredients within our Raspberry Cacao smoothie, but they contain the highest levels of high quality protein, fiber, minerals, and antioxidants. They're not only versatile in how we use can use them, but they're also able to absorb 10 times their weight in liquid! Talk about a small but mighty seed we could all use a little more of.
