Less Waste, Same Great Taste.

We're reducing our packaging by 25% to minimize waste and cut down on the space that Mosaic takes up in your freezer — all without changing portion sizes or the food you love!
Here are the details:

Our mission has always been to put good food on every table — and to do good for the Earth while we’re at it. That’s why from the beginning, our meals have been packaged in recyclable cardboard containers and boxes — and delivered with dry ice, so there aren't any plastic ice packs to dispose of. It’s a start, but we know we can do better. As a company founded with the hope of leading the charge into a plant-based future, we have a responsibility to continuously make choices that put our Earth first.

That's why, starting this month, we'll be gradually phasing out the plastic side cups that come with some of our meals, and including all sauces and toppings in the main meal tray. This transition will reduce packaging by 25% to minimize waste and cut down on the space that Mosaic takes up in your freezer — with no changes at all to your meal size or ingredients. It's a win for us, a win for our customers, and a win for our environment.

Why are we making this change now? When we first launched Mosaic just over a year ago, we included sauces and toppings on the side because we thought that doing so would improve the quality of our food. But we've learned a lot since our first days in the test kitchen, and we've perfected our flash freezing techniques — which help us cook incredible, nutritious meals without adding any preservatives. Thanks to those efforts to continually improve, we now feel confident eliminating plastic side cups altogether, without compromising the quality of our meals.

We're incredibly excited about this change. Reducing the packaging for our meals with plastic cups will also enable us to slim down the boxes for our deliveries by this winter — which will also have a positive impact on our carbon footprint. While our intent has always been to make nutritious food as convenient as possible for you, we know that convenience is all too often synonymous with disposability and wastefulness — and that's a compromise we're not willing to make. From conversations we’ve had with so many of you, it’s clear we share the same mindset, and that those principles are part of your core beliefs, too.

You’ll see this change over the course of the summer as we implement it one meal at a time. The Miso Tempeh Bowl will be the first bowl to swap, with all affected meals to follow by November. And, as always, we're also working on a set of brand new meals — all aligned with our commitment to use less plastic.

We’re so excited for these changes, and hope you are too. Thank you for your support and feedback. Your input is what helps Mosaic continue to improve and do right by the environment, and by you, every step of the way.
